Scarlet Oyster Wins Antigua Race

The Peters and May Round Antigua race was indeed a splendid match that took place between huge ocean greyhounds with an unexpected finish.

The race was seen as a battle that would make Vice Admiral Villeneuve and Lord Nelson proud of. It was indeed Scarlet Oyster of Ross Applebey that caught all the attention from behind for the victory of the race. It made the team achieve Peters and May trophy.

Applebey stated that although they were done with their start and were to go back, but they made it till the end. She strongly believes in participating in the Round Antigua Race. She is competitive enough to take part in the race and aims for victory. Also, she believes in improving performance from time to time to get to the top. It was a pleasure to win the race and is only the beginning for Applebey. There is a lot more to achieve.

As far as Sojana is concerned, it got a good start when compared to Nomad IV. The two yachts as they cracked sheets at York Island sailed and surfed through the ocean at 20 knots. There was one particular stage when Nomad IV was faster than Sojana and was close within a few meters of their competitors. However, both yachts turned towards the corner to reach towards the west coast. It was the ketch configuration as well as bigger hull of Sojana that showed positive results. The pair reached closer to Antigua towards the southwest corner and that’s when the race was won. Although Sojana was quite strong, but the bitter moment was when the line had to be crossed to take the gun. Sojana had almost won but failed to break the record by a second. Thus, it was Scarlet Oyster that achieved the Peters and May Round Antigua trophy.
